Certified Nutrition Coaching
NASM Certified Nutrition Coaches can:
◆ Evaluate current dietary patterns and offer general, evidenced-based nutrition guidance.
◆ Recommend clients discuss supplement use with their personal registered dietitian, physician,
or pharmacist as necessary.
◆ Provide helpful recommendations for clients to navigate real-world nutritional challenges.
◆ Evaluate dietary behaviors using tools and assessments to help develop insights leading to
positive change.
◆ Separate nutritional facts from fiction.
◆ Promote caloric guidelines outlined by the USDA’s MyPlate, the United Kingdom’s Eatwell
Guide, and/or other acceptable entities.
◆ Recommend gradual dietary modifications and consistent dietary practices.
◆ Discuss the importance of a balanced intake of macronutrients.
◆ Refer back to the personal healthcare provider when necessary.
◆ Offer advice on eating behaviors that are known to reduce the risk of disease or slow disease
progression.
◆ Offer exercise and physical activity guidelines.
◆ Provide actionable proven methods for clients to reach their nutrition goals.
This program is available face-to-face, at the client’s home or community in Central Indiana (Marion and surrounding counties) and virtually statewide.
